Quartz Mineral Buyers Challenge
Good quartz is easy to mine. Good buyers are hard to find. A quartz producer wants direct industrial buyers instead of traders. Map the market, find the right buyers and build the plan that wins them.
Buyers, not brochures.
The producer has the leases, the plant and the grades. What it lacks is a direct line to the glass, ceramic, slab, foundry and silicon buyers who would buy every month.
We want direct, repeat industrial buyers — and to know which ones are worth our time before we spend money chasing them.— PRODUCER Q, FROM THE BRIEF
Eight markets, eight specifications.
Quartz is not one product. Each industry buys a different size, purity and iron level — and pays very differently. Your first job is to know which doors the producer can open today.
Engineered quartz surfaces
Largest volume, but trade duties and silicosis rules are reshaping demand.
Fits todayCeramics & tiles
Steady offtake from tile clusters — sensitive to gas supply and prices.
Fits todayContainer & float glass
Large, long contracts — strict on size consistency.
Fits todayFerro-silicon & silicon metal
Uses lumps the slab makers do not want — a natural home for milky grades.
Fits todayFoundry
Many small buyers; price-driven, local delivery matters.
Fits todayPaints, fillers & coatings
Better prices per tonne — needs finer grinding and classification.
After an upgradeSolar glass
Growing with solar manufacturing — needs washing and very low iron.
After an upgradeHigh-purity quartz
Highest value — far beyond a crushing plant without deep processing.
Not yetThe market moved. Did the buyers?
Four public events every serious answer has to deal with. Check them, date them and say what they change.
Quartz becomes a minor mineral
Producers report to the states, not the Indian Bureau of Mines — national demand data is patchy. How will you size the market?
US duties on Indian quartz surfaces
Anti-dumping and countervailing duties on quartz surface products from India. What did that do to the slab makers who buy grits?
Australia bans engineered stone
The first country to prohibit it, over silicosis. Which buyers are exposed if other markets follow?
Gas shocks halt tile plants
Many Morbi ceramic plants stopped for weeks. What does steady offtake really look like?
From acceptance to the buyer's table.
